Member of Delta State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council and Coordinator of Warri South West local government area for APC Governorship Campaign Organisation, Hon. Jude Gbaboyor Akpodubakaye has applauded youths in the state for the peaceful manner they conducted themselves during the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to Warri on his February 16, 2019 electioneering campaign tour on Thursday.
Hon. Akpodubakaye, who made the commendation in a chat with newsmen in Warri, the commercial capital of Delta State on Friday, also commended the security agencies in the state for their show of professionalism in the manner they handled their assignments during the presidential visit to ensure a hitch-free APC political rally at the Warri stadium on Thursday
According to Hon. Akpodubakaye, the security agencies were able to come up with well designed security architecture to forestall any breach of peace during the presidential visit to the state, having earlier secured the cooperation of the youths.
He added that he had earlier gone round to sensitise youth leaders ahead of the presidential visit on the socio-economic benefits of peace and sustainable development in a bid to enlist the cooperation of all and sundry to achieve a hitch-free presidential rally on Thursday.
Hon. Akpodubakaye, a Niger Delta Activist, was full of praises for his colleagues in the Niger Delta struggle for their full cooperation in making sure that the presidential visit to Warri was historic and devoid of violence.
While stressing the need for peace in the Niger Delta to fast tract infrastructural development that would engender full industrialisation in the region, he maintained that no other region in the whole of West Africa was so endowed with such rich maritime ecosystem and resources like the Niger Delta in terms of coastline, beaches, rivers, sea, ocean, lakes and wetland, which could be harnessed for the sustainable development of the region in the interest of the people.
He therefore, appealed to youth leaders at the grassroots to replicate the same peaceful conduct during the forthcoming general elections in the state, saying that no meaningful development can be achieved without peace and cooperation between the law enforcement agencies and the citizenry.
