A former aspirant for the Warri South West Seat in Delta State House of Assembly on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Coordinator of Warri South West local government area for Great Ogboru Governorship Campaign Organisation, Hon. Gbaboyor Akpodubakaye Jude has threatened to sue the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for falsely publishing his name as candidate of the Peoples’ Trust (PT) for Warri South West Constituency in the forthcoming Delta State House of Assembly polls.
Speaking with newsmen in Warri over the weekend, Hon. Gbaboyor said his attention has been drawn to a false and misleading publication by INEC, displaying his name as Delta State House of Assembly candidate for Warri South West Constituency under a strange political party, known as Peoples’ Trust.
Hon. Gbaboyor, a Niger Delta activist, who expressed surprise at the publication, gave INEC seven days to retract the publication and render an unreserved apology to his party, the All Progressives Congress, warning that; failure to retract the misleading publication will leave him with no other option than a legal action against INEC.
He alleged that: “It is crystal clear to me that the INEC publication is a mere political sideshow concocted by my political opponents to taint my image and malign my reputation through cheap political propaganda by shrewd politicians to divert attention of the electorate in Warri South West as it is becoming so clear that APC is gaining more grounds every day ahead of the general elections.
Hon. Gbaboyor, who described himself as an APC stalwart and grassroots mobilisation officer for President Muhammadu Buhari and Great Ogboru, among other party candidates, also accused his political opponents of being used by rivals of the APC in the state, reiterating that he remains a committed APC member and would not allow anything to distract him and his teaming supporters from coasting to victory in Warri South West, come the general elections.
It will be recalled that the party in question, Peoples’ Trust, is chaired by a foremost leader in Civil Society and Human Rights Community, Dr Olisa Agbakoba, (SAN) who leads Nigeria’s biggest political movement in history; Nigeria Intervention Movement, NIM, a major convergence for fresh breed, emerging political leaders of the Third Force Movement in Nigeria.
While Mallam Ja’afaru Nasser Kura, is the Protem National Secretary with Delta born Chief Anthony Tosan Prest, as Deputy National Chairperson with another deltan, Bar Chris Anokam, serving as the Deputy National Organizing Secretary
All efforts to reach INEC for reaction proved abortive as the lines were not going through.
